Holidays in Wine Country

Napa Valley’s residents and businesses offer visitors a gracious and heartfelt welcome throughout the year. However, the hospitality takes on a warmer, more gracious tone as guests and residents come together to celebrate the beauty and joyfulness of the holiday season.

December is a great time to escape the stress and routines of the city and come to Wine Country, a place that joyously celebrates life with fun and entertainment, plenty of outdoor adventures, fascinating cultural presentations, excellent food, or, of course, some of the best wine in the world.

Enjoy Napa Valley’s Wine Country Celebrations

Although the welcoming Napa Valley and St. Helena wineries continue to operate at full tilt, the vineyards in St. Helena are becoming dormant following another successful harvest. The seasonal pause in the vineyards adds another reason for the locals to celebrate the Holiday Season.

Here are some upcoming Holiday activities scheduled for this glorious end-of-the-year Holiday Season in Wine Country.

Family Fun:

Pioneer Christmas at Bale Grist Mill Historic State Park in St. Helena, December 3 from 11 AM to 3 PM

Each year, the organizers of Pioneer Christmas at Bale Grist Mill Historic State Park near the vineyards in St. Helena recreate a true family-friendly tradition by hosting a 19th Century-style celebration for all. Guests can learn about lace making, wool spinning, egg decorating, and milling as they were performed 150 years ago. And youngsters and adults can enjoy making rosemary wreaths and stringing popcorn and cranberries to take home. You may even choose to write a letter directly to Santa and seal your personal message with special red wax. Cookies and cider will be served; the cost is only $3.00 per person.

Napa’s Christmas Parade, Napa, December 3 at 5:00 PM

Head down to Napa after the Pioneer Christmas to catch another family-oriented holiday celebration consisting of beautifully decorated floats and other Parade participants in Downtown Napa. Younger attendees will have a chance to meet and take photographs with Santa.

Adult-Oriented Activities:

Winter in the Wineries Passport, Calistoga, December 3 - February 6

During the two months from early December to February, guests can enjoy a terrific bargain and many fun experiences while winetasting in 16 notable Calistoga wineries. For only $75.00 per person, Passport holders can sample wine tasting flights at any participating winery and enjoy discounts on local dining, lodging, and shopping.

Holidays in Yountville, November 20 - January 1

Offering more than a month of family and adult activities, Yountville returns with its 6th Annual Holidays in Yountville Celebration. From pre-Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day, visitors have a broad menu of options to celebrate the Holiday Season throughout various venues in Wine Country.

While there are hundreds of activities planned around Thanksgiving and Christmas, here are some one-time and recurring activities noted in the Event Calendar:

· Transcendence Holiday Spectacular, Dec. 2 and 4, a Broadway Production for all ages at Hanna Boys Center in Sonoma

· Holiday Movie Night, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” December 2

· The Gourmet Holiday Express-Jolly Journey on the Napa Valley Wine Train, December 3, 15
