J.H. Wheeler
Wines
producing wines that express the terroir of historic napa valley vineyards, while promoting sustainable farming practices and supporting our wine growing community.
J.H. Wheeler produces single-vineyard wines that pay tribute to 19th-century Napa Valley farmer and winegrower John Hoffman Wheeler, whose family owned the present-day Wheeler Farms property in St Helena, CA, and was active in the early years of California’s wine industry, both before and after prohibition. Although the original J.H. Wheeler Winery no longer exists at the corner of St Helena Highway and Zinfandel Lane, a group of oenophiles have revived the J.H. Wheeler wine brand, combining history and terroir with the advancements of modern-day winemaking.
For its grape sources, J.H. Wheeler selects historic vineyard sites with distinguishing characteristics and respectful farming practices. The wines include a selection of Cabernet Sauvignons that are expressive of the individual terroir from which they originate, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé of Cabernet Franc, which complement the portfolio. Winemaker Nigel Kinsman leads the production of these wines at the new, state-of-the-art Wheeler Farms winery.
